This
14 day guided tour to
Italy's important historic sites and museums will focus on Roman, Medieval,
and Renaissance Art.
Included are overnight stays in Rome to visit the Vatican Museums, the
Sistine Chapel, and the Borghese Galleries. From Rome we will visit Pompeii
and stay in Sorrento. In Florence we will examine the works of Michelangelo,
Da Vinci, and Raphael. Guided tours of the Uffizi, the Palazzo Davanzati,
Santa Croce, the Accademia, and the Duomo are planned. There will be an
overnight stay in the medieval town of Siena. The famous frescoes of Giotto
in the Scrovegni Chapel will be explored in Padua and visits to Palladian
Villas are planned.
There will be lunches and visits to craftsman's studios in the Tuscan
and Umbrian countryside. A wine tasting and lunch is planned at the Badia
Coltibuono, the 11th Century Abbey, farm and cooking school of Lorenza
dei Medici. We will conclude our tour in Venice to see the Doge's Palace,
and Basilica of St. Mark .
